Expressive Arts Experiences
-
Expressive Arts include multiple, creative modalities such as visual arts, music, movement, writing, and drama.
The term 'expressive' refers to creative formats that prioritise personal expression, often resulting in deeply transformative and therapeutic experiences.
Each Expressive Art modality offers a unique playground for exploring the intuitive creative process.
However, when several modalities are combined in an intuitive flow, the creative process expands and becomes more flexible, supporting self-discovery, growth, and wellbeing in a holistic way.
-
Experiences are designed to enable participants to respond to a series of guided, intentional prompts that facilitate intuitive expression.
Through these creative communication styles, participants can yield valuable insight from the subconscious mind, providing an opportunity for intentional self-discovery and growth.
-
Expressive Arts practice supports mental health and wellbeing by promoting relaxation, strengthening resilience, and improving self-esteem through nurturing a profound connection with our intuition.
This practice can also open up new creative possibilities for participants as they explore and engage with diverse art forms.

Mural Commission Process:
First, I send you a commission survey to complete, or;
We can meet in person or chat on the phone to discuss your vision!
Next, wherever possible, we can arrange a time to meet at the mural site where I can take photographs and measurements. Otherwise, you can send me this info by email;
Then, I send over a mural proposal which includes initial sketches, design ideas, and costing details for you to consider with your budget;
Once you’ve reviewed this document, we can then discuss your feedback and work on developing the designs so that they suit your vision;
I will then send you a mural agreement with a final quote, an estimated timeline, final design ideas, and commission terms and conditions;
Upon signing this agreement, 50% of the total cost is due. Then I can get to work on your own very special mural!
When the mural is complete, the balance is due to be paid…
And finally, life is infinitely more colourful than before! Hooray!

Public art like murals, mosaics, and sculptures provide opportunities for ‘place-making’, adding layers of meaning to our communal spaces that reflect the unique identity of our communities.
This can foster a sense of community pride that empowers people to take care of the land and each other, thus enhancing community wellbeing.
Public artworks can also promote the area as an arts and culture destination, stimulating the local economy.
Drawing on my background in cultural anthropology, I employ qualitative interview techniques to generate detailed information that can bring an authentic and meaningful piece of art to life!

There are many variables that can influence the duration and pricing of mural projects. These include:
Mural size
Surface substrate
Location accessibility
Required specialist tools
Design complexity
Revisions
Permits/approvals
The weather!
Typically, a site inspection at the beginning of the consultation process will allow us to account for each of these factors so you will be provided with an estimated project timeline.
I will also provide a price per square metre which includes consultation, concept design, materials, labour, documentation, and social media updates.
*Please note that any design revisions requested during the production process once the commission agreement has already been signed will incur an additional fee. This is outlined in the terms and conditions in the commission agreement.

Throughout the creative process, I keep you updated with work in progress photos.
When the artwork is complete, the balance is due to be paid. I can then ship the artwork to you or offer a complimentary installation for those living in the Gladstone Region.
The artwork now belongs to you!

In personal spaces, bespoke commissions can vastly contribute towards a sense of wellbeing in the home as a sacred sanctuary that reflects and nurtures your sense of self.
Commissions can also foster feelings of joy, hope, and nostalgia which can be very therapeutic in our day to day lives.
-
There are many variables that can influence the duration and pricing of bespoke commissions.
Nevertheless, I will be transparent and realistic with you during the consultation about my prior project commitments that may impact the timeline of your commission. Rush fees may apply if the client requests the artwork to be completed as a matter of urgency.
We will also discuss an appropriate budget for the artwork throughout the consultation. This will then be formally outlined in the commission agreement.

“Jen is much more than an artist; she is a mentor, an inspiration, a champion, and my conductor. She knows when to lead me, challenge and encourage me, and she is creative in so many ways. If it wasn’t for Jen, I would not be here today. She has taken me from one of the darkest times of my life and given me hope and a purpose for my future.”
George
“Jen's group art experiences are a safe space where you can explore expressing your emotions through art. Jen is amazing at holding the space for others and making everyone feel safe and welcome. I love that there is no pressure to make art that looks or feels a certain way, and there is no judgement. No matter how I'm feeling before a session with Jen, I always leave feeling more relaxed and content.”
